Accessories for Organizing your Credit Cards
Saturday, January 19th, 2008Almost all of us have been in the awkward position of getting ready to pay for something and then finding that we don’t have our credit card on us. Sometimes, it’s actually in a purse somewhere but there’s so much other junk in there that we can’t find it. Other times, it got left behind at home because we failed to stick it back in our wallets. In worse case scenarios, the credit card was forgotten at a restaurant or other location and we have to retrace our steps to figure out where we put it. Although some of these problems can be attributed to general human error, they are exacerbated when we don’t keep our credit cards in an organized fashion. Credit card holders and other accessories can often be the best tool in getting organized about our cards.
For some people, the simple wallet or pocketbook works just fine. They put their cards into the pockets, keep the wallet with them and rarely forget where each card is at. But for other people, a more detailed system is in order. This is particularly true for people who carry around a lot of cards with them. Let’s say, for example, that you have two rewards credit cards that you use regularly. One has a high balance on it but is good for small purchases and you use the other for bigger spending. You need to keep both on you and need to easily have access to the one you use most often. You may also keep a debit card, a gas card, a few department store cards and a business credit card on you. The right multi-card holder can provide you with the organization that you need to make sure that you’ve got all of the cards on you at all times without confusing as to when each should be used.
The best tool for this type of multi-card organizing is a business card organizer. It’s designed to hold actual business cards but can be used for credit cards as well. The best thing about this is that you can leave yourself a note below each credit card so you’re clear on what it’s to be used for. Take old business cards and turn them over to write on the back. Put a reminder as to what card goes there and what it’s to be used for. Then insert this into the business card holder. Place the card in the slot above it. You’ll easily be able to tell what cards to use in different situations. Furthermore, you’ll be able to easily see if one is ever missing. The more organized you are with your cards, the more organized you’ll be about your spending.
