People Who Successfully Use Credit Cards
Friday, December 14th, 2007Have you ever wondered what kind of person uses credit cards successfully? I mean, almost everyone you know has some sort of trouble with credit cards, right? They have debt they can’t quite pay off. Or they’re having trouble meeting their minimum monthly payments. Or they pay their minimums just fine but have sky-high interest rates. But you know that there must be people out there who use their credit cards and don’t suffer from these kinds of problems. What does one of those people look like?
First of all, this individual is probably young, but not too young. People who truly understand the nature of credit cards and who have the knowledge to use them to their benefit tend to be of a younger generation. However, those folks who are so young that they just started using credit cards don’t fall into this category. The successful credit card user tends to be in his/her late twenties or thirties. And yes, the successful credit card user can be either male or female.
This person has steady employment at a job which may or may not require a college degree. There is no guarantee that making a lot of money will make you more capable of paying off your credit cards on time. However, you do have to be making money in order to be able to make payments. The individual who is able to use credit cards without problems generally has a steady job with a higher-than-minimum-wage income.
This person tends to be in positions which demonstrate responsibility. In a job, this type of position may be managerial. In the community, this person may have some sort of leadership role (such as with a church group or PTA). More often than night, this individual is the head of the household. He/she may also be the oldest sibling in the family. All of these things point to signs of responsibility, a key feature in being able to use credit cards properly.
Finally, this person has a moderate lifestyle. She may have a good cell phone but it’s not of the $500 variety. He may wear nice suits but not Armani. They may drive a new car but it’s not one that requires a six-figure income to maintain. These people use credit cards to obtain a few luxury items but they don’t make purchases that they won’t be able to pay back within a reasonable amount of time. The successful credit card user does not necessarily live within his/her means but also doesn’t go to extremes outside of those means. Just like you and me, that’s what the successful credit card user looks like.
